Travels with my Camera

Dean Williams

From Friday 2nd March 2018  through March 2018

Photographic exhibition

Since retiring from his farming career, Dean has found more time to combine his two main passions - photography and travel.   Dean particularly loves the Australian coast and outback.  Both are reflected beautifully in his photographs.  There are also some stunning scenes from his overseas travels.  Dean's philosophy is that skill with the camera is the most important aspect of photography.  He does not believe in editing or altering photographs with technology.

Challenges overcome!

Dean is a farmer's son who grew up and has lived all his live in the Mid North of South Australia.  He has had some serious health issues to overcome during his lifetime, including deafness, however he looks on the positive side and enjoys life to the full.  He is a well known and valued member of the Balaklava and Auburn communities.

Dean acknowledges his high school teacher, Mr Jim Dow who taught photography and inspired Dean's lasting interest.  In the same class, he met life-long friend, Leon Cottle, also a keen and acomplished photographer, who is travelling from Ballarat to officially open Dean's exhibition on Saturday 3rd March.

Twenty photographs in this series and more!

This exhibition is showing twenty of Dean's landscape photographs including his "Reflections of Scotland" that won the  Most Outstanding prize in the photography section of the Balaklava Balco Art Prize exhibition in 2017.

Dean has generously donated his "Burra Races" photograph to be raffled in support of his favourite cause, The Royal Flying Doctor Service.
