Photographs taken by Carolyn ad Hellen on their travels and around their home area have inspired textile and mixed media work. Landscape and close-up detail This exhibition includes some large canvas prints and some smaller prints displayed alongside the work they have inspired. Textile work demonstrates a wide variety of techniques including quilting, layering of different fabrics with applique, hand stitching, beading and free motion machine stitching. Wonderful colour and textures. Carolyn and Hellen find beauty in the natural environment, both the wider landscape and close up details. They are inspired by the array of colours and textures, frequently ‘seeing’ the fabrics and stitches they will produce before even taking the photograph. |
