About The Artist

Audrey Hill is nearly 93 and when she was young she wanted to study art, but times were tough and this was not possible.
At the age of  40 and her 2 children attending boarding school she found time to go to art lessons and later woodcarving and she has been very productive ever since, possibly trying to make up for lost time!

Audrey’s favorite topic is Australian gum trees and Hans Heysen work was an influence. She loved the Flinders ranges and also working horse scenes.

Woodcarving lessons were with Michael Mason at the Woodcarvers Haven. Audrey has carved a lot of furniture and also 3D plaques of Tom Roberts “Shearing of the Rams”, “The Last supper”, horse scenes and animals.

In more recent years Audrey attended the Gawler Art Society classes where she made wonderful friends.

Audrey currently resides in a nursing home and still does some painting occasionally. She has created a wonderful collection of Art and carvings for others to enjoy.

Linhay Gallery has a COVID-safe plan, so numbers are limited and visitors are required to use hand sanitizer  on entry to the gallery and wear a face mask  as well as keeping appropriate space between each other.
