Hellen Bakhoff

Review

From Friday 1st to Monday 4th December 2017.

Celebrating the first year at Linhay Gallery.

For this weekend only, Hellen is showing a selection of paintings, textiles and photographs that sumarise her work during the year  Some pieces have been exhibited here at Linhay, others only in other galleries.

A successful year!

Go with the Flow
Winner - Innovative Amateur
at The Festival of Quilts, Adelaide

Hellen "learnt to draw looking through a microscope in biology lessons at school" so attention to detail in a photorealism style attracts her.  This work is one of a series on which she is working, inspired by haematology - photographs of live blood samples viewed through a microscope.  This one illustrates healthy red blood cells flowing through her body. It is a celebration of survival and recovery.

Moody Goddess
Very Highly Commended
in The Art of the Garden
at Burra Regional Art Gallery.

The subtle and energetic representation of light and colour in impressionist work delights Hellen's eye. Hellen's recent painting is moving towards a new sense of freedom and adventure into colour, inspired by Medieval jewels and rich fabrics.

This exhibition includes a range of Hellen's work, paintings, textiles and photographs both large and small, - something for everyone, perhaps a Christmas gift?  Also a range of interesting cards by Hellen and friends.
