Clare Valley Calendar

Judy Searley

From Saturday 6th October until Monday 2th October 2018

Judy arrived in Australia 15 years ago from the south of England, initially working in Adelaide, and with a love for the ocean, home was close to the sea. A wish to have a small acreage property led her to exploring the Clare Valley, and, finding that she felt completely at home in the region, decided to settle in Auburn SA.

Cycle The Riesling Trail

With no plans to set up a business, Judy found soon after moving to Auburn, that she was wondering why she didn't see anyone else cycling out on the Riesling Rail Trail, when she was riding and enjoying all the beauty of the region from the former Railway line herself. A few questions asked and hurdles jumped, Judy decided to set up a bicycle hire business in the main street of Auburn. Twelve years on and the business has evolved into a Café, Visitor Information Outlet and continues with the bicycle hire.

A camera is with her wherever she goes.

Many activities fill her day, but photography has become a priority for Judy especially when light distracts her attentions and moments in time are there to be captured before they pass.

A camera is with her wherever she goes and it has led to much discovery, exploration and 'capturing' of the Clare Valley and beyond.

Clare Valley Calendar

Having photographed seasons coming and going in the Clare Valley for a few years, it became apparent from my collection of the changes that occur in nature, in the broad acre crops grown, and vineyards, that a 'Calendar' of these seasonal events could be recognised even without dates being applied. Every season has its own lighting so that the same location can appear very different when taken at various times of the year. The colours from crops, grapes, sky, the land itself is stunning. The four seasons have many changes within each of them too.

The photographs stand alone, or collectively provide a Visual Calendar.
